WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Hamadeh proudly voted in favor of theĀ Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act, meant to protect children from radical gender ideology in schools and restoring parental authority in education.Ā
The billās sponsors, Education and Workforce Committee Chairman Tim Walberg (R-MI) and Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT) introduced the legislation to āincrease transparency in K-12 schools, strengthen parentsā rights, and ensure federal education dollars are not used to advance radical political or ideological agendas in the classroom.ā
āIndoctrination of any kind does not belong in the classroom; education does and little of it is occurring due to the fact that too many administrators and predatory teachers have turned our classrooms into incubators for radical thought,āĀ said Congressman Hamadeh. āOur students are supposed to be exposed to the wonders of science and the elegance of math, instead they are being turned into foot soldiers for the extreme left.ā
āParents have the fundamental liberty to direct the upbringing and education of their children,ā said Kim Miller, Founder and President of Women of Action andĀ Americaās Women. āAs Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, āTrain up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.ā The U.S. Supreme Court affirmed this principle in Pierce v. Society of Sisters, declaring that āthe child is not the mere creature of the State.ā Bills like the Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act rightly restore parental authority and ensure classrooms teach truth rather than radical ideology. Americaās Women fully support this bill.ā
Congressman Hamadeh promised to defend parental rights, protect Americaās children, and ensure that families are empowered to make decisions about their childrenās upbringing and education. The Congressman has consistently prioritized parental rights and commonsense education reform, arguing that families, not bureaucrats, activist organizations, or unelected administrators should have the louder voice in a child’s education. Congressman Hamadehās support for (H.R. 2616) theĀ Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids ActĀ is part of keeping that promise to parents.
